Is it right a few players have left after weekend goings on? could do with the lads sticking together especially over next few weeks with kells dudley hill and pilks to play Of course , Wez would be the hub of most things at the club. He would be one of the 1st people I would ask back . Doing stuff at east is a no go without Wez . But the committee would have to approve his position as it involves money being raised . Wez and a few others have not been treated very well by some at the club . But a massive yes for Wez In answer ti kipp , it's a crying shame that it's got to this , I have known kip for many many years as a player and a friend . He is well respected throughout the game as a player and coach . IMO he also had vision but was let down by a structure that wasn't put in place . If I'm wrong please tell who filled those positions I have posted . Dave Coyle and gary grainy have worked hard but not worked smart , there inexperience at running a open age section is limited and I think they will agree . Since myself and janet finished I have not had one phone call of either to ask for advise , I would have gladly given it to them . I have been involved at open age on and off for over thirty five years , I know how it runs , I know what it takes , I know the answers . I wanted the likes of kipp , kilsh , Greggy, JT, mark kay , to be involved at the highest level in coaching and committee level , just like I did when john lewis , Jim Hoffman , and Geoff Owen offered me myself player, coaching and administrive roles . It worked because I knew the club , I knew how it worked . What all the other people I have mentioned bring to the club is transparency , vision , passion , knowledge and hard work , look back and see how janet Pendlebury turned this club around it was natural to her she knew were the club wanted to be but had all the tools to do it The plan was to get involved with the running of the open age not to be involved at committee level , that must be made clear , yes players would have come back but not at the expense of anyone involved involved with the present committee , gary openly stated and it was minuted that he didn't want to work with janet Pendlebury or myself . End of story , and I hold no grudges against my mate gary , he was in the position to make that call and to his credit did . Did it work for him , I don't think so but I wish him and the present committee all the very best , they know my phone number if they want any help . It will be gladly given . I never wanted to get involved in a power struggle , just wanted to help the committee , players , coaches and the club in general along with all the people . Players and coaches involved at east

Well said keith,
Cant add anything to your last few posts Keith, and if the powers that be embrace rather than push away then we should be able to make a difference.
The one thing I will say to the committee !!!
Is that the people posting on this forum have a passion for Leigh East and want to help Leigh East - there is nothing negative being said just the truth and straight talking.
The reason for negativity or speculation is because people are asking questions and not getting any answers from the committee- so they have to make an answer up themselves....

Dave Radley here – thought I would just put a statement out to give my reasons for stepping down at Leigh East as I’ve seen the posts on forums etc. and thought it best to share this.
When I was asked to take over from Gary Grainey part way through last season it was an honour to be asked to take over at Leigh East. Leigh East has been a big part of my life now for over 22 years and to be asked to be Head Coach is a massive honour. I still appreciate being given that opportunity and thank Dave Coyle and the committee for having faith in me and Gary Grainey for bringing me in as assistant at the start of last season. When I first came in as assistant to help Gary I really wanted to try to build bridges at the club as it was no secret that a lot had gone on and needed sorting one way or another. However, that proved to fail for me and there was clearly a divide and again this was well documented throughout last year.
When I took over from Gary myself and Kip had every intention of trying to rebuild the club and try to bring back all the true east people that had sadly walked away. We set out a plan and series of events to not only rebuild on the field but off it as well. To name a few things we had the lads in the gym in pre-season, an open session over xmas and a launch night at the club, all of which we put on the forum and invited all people associated with the club to attend and/or reported on how these events went. The reason for this being that the key thing for me was transparency and it was clear that a lot of people used the forum for information on club events. The preseason proved to be a success with the aid of Dan Weaving as conditioning coach and the return of Chris Snape to the coaching staff who I must add has been a massive help for me throughout my time as Head Coach. Player numbers went up massively and all signs pointed to a successful season ahead. However when we came to within a few weeks of the season player numbers started to drop dramatically which came as a surprise to me. This carried through into the season and hit us hard – it’s a simple fact that if lads don’t train you can’t possible work on making things right. As a coach I have to hold my hands up and say that it was under my leadership that lads started to drop off which I will take the blame if lads didn’t want to turn up.
I did try to make other changes in trying to recruit past players/new players but to no avail. The fact still remains that some players do not want to play for the club because of issues with people higher up than me at the club. That is not me criticising people at the club it is fact, they weren’t my battles. I was, in the main, stuck in the middle which at times was really tough given I had good mates either side of the ‘divide’. I did cite family and business commitments which is true but I was willing to work with this if I thought I could succeed and make a difference at the club. I did become frustrated at numbers and more frustrated that players would not come back due to fall outs with current committee. At this point I felt I could no longer make a difference so thought it was best to step down now early in the season to allow someone else to have half a chance to turn things round because my hands were tied which is explained above. If whoever takes over can break down these barriers this can only be a good thing. The current crop of lads I feel would benefit from the experience of some former players as they are a good bunch deep down and deserve better than the results that have been coming in.
I will give my honest opinion on the support I have received from the committee. They gave me the job first of all to which I was grateful especially considering I had coached mostly at junior level and only worked with Gary Grainey the one season. My plans throughout the preseason were supported and I was left to crack on with the job which was good. I did request support on matchdays as I wanted to raise the profile of the club and get matchdays buzzing again. I have to say this is an area that has not improved in my opinion. I did ask could I bring Keith Latham in to which I was told that this wouldn’t work due to past issues. I also asked could I bring in Keith for the Launch Night but was also told the same. This is not me putting myself on a ‘side’ and criticising anyone I am just being honest because I think people wanted to know my thoughts and version of events. The committee does work hard and have helped me. However I feel that the help of people that are tried and tested at open age level is now needed. I asked for Keith to be involved because I have a lot of respect for him and he has a proven track record. I realised that things had gone on in the past at the club but I thought surely this could be sorted and everyone could work together to drag the club back to where it should be. I don’t feel that this is going to be the case personally and it’s a crying shame. As I type this message in the back of my head I am thinking ‘am I taking sides, what will people think?’…this shouldn’t be the case as it should be one club and everyone should be pulling together not locking horns all the time.
The fact still remains that knowledgeable, experienced, passionate people both on and off the field are banging on the door and not being let in because of personal issues. The club will never move forward until this is sorted and I am 100% sure of that now. If I am wrong and the club can pick itself up without this help then good on them and I will be the first to applaud the people involved.
Dave

Blows this out of the water then !
RADLEY RESIGNS
It's with great regret that i have to announce the resignation of Dave Radley as Head Coach of the 1st team. Dave spoke to myself on Saturday and said due to work commitments with his new business and the fact that he was finding it tough to spend time with his family that he could not commit to the head coaches role. I would like to thank Dave for his efforts over the last two years of being involved with coaching and I am sure the club will be all the better for it.
Again thanks from all at Leigh East
Dave Coyle

Its took them 5 days to release a statement of what we already know about, where's the statement telling the members what's happening going forward?

Dave Radleys post seems a very honest and almost passionate appeal to the club to listen to what he has had to put up with and what still remains.
It is however a sorry indictment of the club as it stands and until this is recognised things wont change , Genuine peoples hard work seems to be in vain

This is the worst I've seen the club in a long time, we have experienced the tough and truly amazing times this club has had, everyone who is posting on here. But its getting to the point i'm choosing to go to Leigh Miners or ST Pats to watch games, as the vibe at the club is terrible. The committee think the club is on top of the world, as the junior teams have won a few games this year, but its far from the truth. I see this forum as a opportunity for the current hierarchy at the club to say the 'Old school' Leigh east guys are having a dig at the club, but its far from it, these people want to help and advise the committee where they are going wrong and how can they move forward. I cant speak on behalf of anyone else but my dream is to see Leigh East back to where they belong, the teams cleaning up, the vibe how it was and just get a buzz back around the club. We all share the same love and that is Leigh east, whether it was 2 months of 20 years since leaving, we all want to see the club back in its glory days.
My message to the committee is get out your bubble and speak up, help is there, valuable help at that, and speak to the likes of Keith, Wes, Janet etc as they are the best in the business.

Surely Dave Coyle must see the club is on its arse? With over 20 years hard working service to the club he has to do the right thing and step aside from his position and admit its not worked out as him in charge.
The club needs to change soon to get out of this rut because if it goes on much longer i really do feel for the future of this great historic club. It will take a good 5/10 years to get back to where the club was a few years ago but with the right people at the helm it would be possible.
look at the u18s from last year national cup winners, a very good side who could be the future of Leigh east for years to come but if the open age section is poor these lads will rather finish playing or go elsewhere, ie Leigh miners, Wigan st pats. East have already lost a few in the last couple of years groves MacDonald to miners Robertson noon Hargreaves to st pats, all decent lads who have left because of trouble at east. Im sure if things changed at the club maybe not all but some would come back.
the club needs the likes of kilshaw john Taylor carl redford greggy etc back in the first team even if it is only for a couple of years or so before they hang up their boots for good to help the young u18s coming through, like the likes of Darren hall gunners flecker grudsy sandy etc did all them years back when kilsh jt mick red wingy warhurst bowdler etc was coming through the ranks

Me personally thinks its time to move on from whats gone on over the last few years because things cant be be changed no matter whats said all we can do is try and move forward, I would gladly help if it improves the open age and helps al and chris, maybe it would be good if we could just sit round a table having an informal chat and a pint about how we could help move the open age forward, no spitting dummies out about who did what or whos fault it was just how we can help the club.Like keith and janet says we dont want to take over the committee just help them and if the people that want to help can move on the committee should because lets be right they work for the club and its members not the other way round
